The power supply was restored in many parts of Mumbai after a blackout of over 2 hours. The unprecedented power cut was reported a little after 10 am, leaving several local trains stranded on tracks. Western Railway said the breakdown was due to a grid failure at Tata Power. Commuters were seen walking on rail tracks. The central and western line train services have now been restored.
The city's civic body asked hospitals to ensure there is enough supply of diesel for at least eight hours to avoid power failures, especially in the ICUs.
