- Suvendu Adhikari, BJP's frontline leader, plans to celebrate with traditional Bengali foods
- The BJP-led alliance is poised to attain a majority in Bengal
- The Trinamool is set to sit in the opposition after 15 years, show trends
The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and workers are set for a grand celebration as the party appears to have breached the West Bengal fort -- the centre of a pitched political battle with Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress. Suvendu Adhikari, the politician who shunned the Trinamool and spearheaded the BJP on the Bengal front, is ready to lead the party's workers in celebrations as well.
NDTV asked him how he would celebrate the victory -- with Jhalmuri or Fish? He replied as any Bengali would. "I will eat Jhalmuri, macher jhol, roshogolla," he said.
During campaigning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with a Jhalmuri vendor, sparking a battle of pot-shots between the BJP and Trinamool leaders.

Fish entered the political discourse when the Trinamool claimed the BJP would ban what is, arguably, Bengal's most favourite food item. In response, many BJP leaders ate fish during campaigning to allay the fear.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance is leading in West Bengal by a massive margin and is poised to score a landslide victory. The ruling Trinamool trailing behind, indicating that it may lose power, 15 years after it dislodged the well-entrenched Left.
Suvendu Adhikari On Expected BJP Win
Adhikari, who is being seen as front-runner to the coveted chief ministerial post, told NDTV that the people of Bengal voted against Mamata Banerjee's misrule.
"BJP has been dreaming of doing this since the time of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, but has never been able to do it," he said.
Adhikari described Bengal as the cultural capital of the country. He credited PM Modi for leading the campaign.
The politician, who is trailing against Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur constituency, dismissed the Trinamool Congress's "outsider-insider" narrative as cheap politics. "Outsider-insider, it's Mamata Banerjee's very cheap politics. The people rejected it," he stated.
On the possibility of him becoming the next chief minister of West Bengal, he said,"No, I am not passing this sensitive question. The BJP is a collective leadership. Under the great leadership of Narendra Modi, we fought this election and results are coming," he said.
