Kota: A top medical officer from Rajasthan's Kota, who had resigned on Friday after being allegedly abused by a BJP lawmaker, said he will take back his resignation after a meeting with the state's health minister on Saturday .
Dr RN Yadav, the Chief Medical Officer of Kota, was allegedly threatened and abused by Member of Legislative Assembly Prahlad Gunjal in a phone call that went viral on social media.
Dr Yadav met Health Minister Rajendra Rathore on Saturday evening, who urged him to take back his resignation and assured him that an impartial inquiry will be conducted in the case by the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department.
Action will be taken against the lawmaker once the probe is completed, the minister reportedly assured Mr Yadav.
During the phone conversation made earlier this week, the lawmaker was heard telling the senior doctor that he will kick him, slap him, cut off his hair and "skin him alive".
Mr Gunjal allegedly threatened Dr Yadav for not stopping the transfer of a male nurse related to a BJP worker. The lawmaker was apparently furious that his word didn't count in restoring the job of the nurse, who was removed recently from a health centre over alleged irregularities in the purchase of medicines.
Dr Yadav, who has filed a police complaint, had resigned on Friday along with two other doctors. More doctors had threatened to quit if tough action was not taken against the lawmaker within 72 hours.
Mr Gunjal, who told NDTV on Friday that he "got carried away," was suspended by the BJP over the incident.
Union minister Venkaiah Naidu said in Delhi, "The MLA who used abusive language has been suspended from the party and has been asked to explain. This is unacceptable."
