Mumbai: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday interacted with volunteers and artisans of the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA), a non-government organisation.

The US Secretary of State was updated on the progress of Global Women's Trade Finance Council, founded in 2007 in New York with Clinton and Ela Bhatt as co-chairpersons.

The Council aims at exploring ways and means to highlight women's efforts at the global level and link them to the world markets.

Hillary, who visited the SEWA centre at Hansiba Creations on Napean Sea Road, had earlier visited the NGO's headquarters at Ahmedabad in 1995 as the US First Lady.

SEWA operates a bank for women, housing and social security schemes and is involved in uplift of people from the lowest strata of the society.
