New Delhi:
The coronavirus death count rose to 1,583 with 194 fatalities reported since Monday evening, while the number of cases saw a big jump of 3,875 to go up to 46,711 cases on Tuesday, according to the Union health ministry.
Earlier, the ministry also released a data for cases and deaths from Monday 8 am, to Tuesday 8 am.
It said in this 24 hours period, India registered a record single-day increase of 195 deaths and 3,900 cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 fatalities to 1,568 and cases to 46,433.
More than a quarter of a million people have died from the novel coronavirus worldwide, with over 85 percent of them in Europe and the United States, according to an AFP tally of official figures. The US had recorded 68,689 virus deaths, the most for any single country, while Europe was the hardest-hit continent with 145,023 confirmed fatalities.

Two special trains carrying migrants leave from Kalyan
Two Shramik Special trains carrying more than 2,100 migrant workers left on Tuesday night from Kalyan junction in Thane district, Maharashtra, the Central Railway said. One of them, carrying nearly 1,200 migrants, left for Darbhanga in Bihar.
The end-to-end service departed at 8:37 pm carrying only the registered and nominated passengers cleared by the Maharashtra government, a release said.

Telangana Extends Coronavirus Lockdown Till May 29
Telangana has said it will continue the lockdown in the state to contain the coronavirus outbreak till May 29 - 10 days after it is scheduled to end in the rest of the country. "People want lockdown extended. I have informed the Prime Minister about our decision," said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao after a 7- hour cabinet meeting this evening.
"The Centre says shops can open even in the red zone. But we are not opening any shops in Hyderabad, Medchal, Suryapet, Vikarabad," Mr Rao said.
Telangana so far has 1,096 cases of coronavirus, 439 people are under treatment and 628 have been discharged.

Coronavirus News: Chennai Has More COVID-19 Cases Due To Dense Population, Says E Palaniswami
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday said that there are more number of COVID-19 cases reported from Chennai due to its dense population
"COVID-19 cases are more in Chennai as the city is densely populated. In all containment zones, sanitisation is being done three times a day," Chief Minister Palaniswami told media persons.
Chennai has registered 1,724 COVID-19 cases so far including 267 discharged and 18 deaths.
In the last 24 hours, 195 people died of coronavirus across the country. Now, the total death count has reached 1,568.

Coronavirus Update: Tamil Nadu Records 500 Plus COVID-19 Cases For Second Straight Day
The state of Tamil Nadu recorded more than 500 coronavirus cases for a second consecutive day as the total infections crossed 4,000.
Two deaths were reported, taking the number of fatalities from the deadly virus in the state to 33, a Health Department bulletin said.
With 508 new patients on Tuesday, the cumulative tally stood at 4,058 and the active cases at 2,537.

Coronavirus Update From Uttarakhand: 535 People Arrested For Flouting Lockdown
As many as 535 persons were arrested by the Uttarakhand police on Tuesday for violation of the COVID-19 lockdown, the state police said today.
So far, the state has registered a total of 2,602 cases and has arrested 13,643 people since the commencement of the lockdown.
Also, the state government under the Motor Vehicles Act has collected Rs 1.63 crore as penalty amount by seizing 6,020 vehicles and by issuing 31,931 challans.
As many as 535 persons were arrested by the Uttarakhand police on Tuesday for violation of the COVID-19 lockdown, the state police said today.

Health Professionals Contracting Coronavirus ''Matter Of Concern'': Health Ministry
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said that it a matter of concern that health professionals are getting infected from Covid-19.
"For us, it is a matter of concern if any health professional gets infected. It is particularly important for all of us to ensure we take precautions while dealing with cases. There are two sets of cases we have found. First is while attending medical duties and second is someone getting infected and in process being a professional also got infected," said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, during the regular media briefing on COVID-19 situation.

Coronavirus: Delhi to charge 70% "corona fee" on liquor from today
The Delhi government will charge 70 per cent extra tax on liquor from today amid the coronavirus pandemic. Calling the new tax "special corona fee", the Arvind Kejriwal government in a late night order on Monday said the police should allow the shops to remain open from 9 am to 6:30 pm. The 70% tax is on the maximum retail price or MRP per bottle. For instance, a liquor bottle with a pre-tax MRP of Rs 1,000 will now cost Rs 1,700.

2 special flights to evacuate Indians from UAE on Thursday
Two special flights are set to operate on Thursday to evacuate Indians stranded in the United Arab Emirates due COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian Consulate in Dubai has announced.
The passenger list for the two flights -- Abu Dhabi to Kochi and Dubai to Kozhikode -- will be finalized by the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, and the Consulate General of India, Dubai, a statement said. The list will be made on the basis of registrations in the Embassy or Consulate database which was launched for this purpose a few days back, it added.

Telangana to run 40 special trains for migrants for a week
Telangana has decided to operate 40 special trains every day for one week from today for migrants.
The chief minister has instructed officials to organise travel of migrant labours on behalf of the state government. He said from various stations in Hyderabad, special trains would also run from Warangal, Khammam, Damaracharla and other places in the state. He said trains would run from the state to Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and other places.
