Not all packaged food products are safe for consumption, and a recent food safety raid in Hyderabad highlights the growing concern around questionable bakery items. The Commissioner's Task Force, Golconda Zone, conducted a food safety raid at Chand Bakery in Tappachabutra and found that the owner was producing bakery goods under highly unhygienic conditions without the required licences. During the operation, bakery materials and products worth Rs 2,77,630 were seized.

The raid was carried out in coordination with the Tappachabutra Police, following which the accused, Syed Khadeer, 42, was arrested.

Unlicensed Operations And Poor Hygiene

Investigations revealed that the accused was manufacturing and storing bakery items in grossly unhygienic conditions, without valid food, trade or labour licences. Authorities also noted that the unit failed to comply with basic fire safety norms, raising further concerns about worker and public safety.

The Hyderabad Police shared a video from the raid on their official X handle, which shows what appears to be the production of rusks and other bakery items. From the storage of raw materials and finished goods to the cooking process itself, the footage highlights several unhygienic practices at the facility.

Similar Other Food Safety Raids Raise Alarm

This is not the first such unhygienic bakery incident reported in Hyderabad. In March, the Mailardevpally Police carried out a raid at a unit named Madurai Meenakshi Food Company, which was allegedly producing bakery items such as doughnut buns and cakes in extremely dirty conditions.

Police claimed that the unit was using rotten eggs and mixing them with chemicals, including sodium benzoate, sorbic acid and PGPR liquid while preparing food products, further intensifying concerns around food safety and regulatory enforcement.
