The two big Independence Day releases, Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 entered second week following the similar trend they have been showing since their opening on August 14. After 10 days, Awarapan 2 has minted Rs 136.25 crore (net) in India, while Sunny Deol's film hasn't crossed Rs 50 crore mark so far.
Breaking Down The Numbers
On day 10, Awarapan 2 collected a net of Rs 8.75 crore across 13,632 shows.
This brings India gross collections to Rs 162.50 crore and net Rs 13.25 crore so far.
Overseas, the film collected Rs 1.50 crore on Day 10, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 30.30 crore so far.
This pushes the worldwide gross collection to 192.80 crore.
On day 10, Batwara 1947 collected a net of ₹ 1.30 crore across 5,402 shows as per Sacnilk.
This brings total India gross collections to ₹43.67 crore and total India net collections to ₹36.80 crore so far.
Overseas, the film collected ₹0.50 crore on Day 10, taking its total overseas gross to ₹8.85 crore so far.
This pushes the worldwide gross collection to ₹52.52 crore.
Taran Adarsh's Post On Awarapan 2
Trade analyst Taran Aadrsh wrote on Instagram about the film's second Saturday performance.
"Awarapan2 sees an upward trend on Saturday [+44.92%], benefiting from the lack of any major release this Friday... Sunday, too, should witness strong results.
"Much like #WTTJ, whose solid run was cut short by #Dhamaal4 after two weeks, the glorious run of #Awarapan2 will now be interrupted by #Toxic, which arrives on Wednesday."
About Awarapan 2
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films, Awarapan 2 is a sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan. The film stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi alongside Emraan Hashmi.
Emraan Hashmi's fans are going gaga over the film, praising his charisma and aura, although the film received mixed reviews from critics.
The film clashed with Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi's Batwara 1947 at the box office and went way ahead of the latter one in terms of box office numbers.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, Batwara 1947 marks the reunion of Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades. The two previously collaborated on hits such as Ghayal (1990), Damini (1993) and Ghatak (1996).
Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the film's music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.
