The 17th Lok Sabha Election 2019 in the Howrah constituency of West Bengal was held in the fifth phase on May 6, 2019.

Howrah constituency is one of the 543 parliamentary constituencies in India. In 2014, AITCs Prasun Banerjee was the winner for the 2014 General Election. He received 4,88,461 votes. The runner up for the 2014 election was COM candidate Sridip Bhattacharya, who received 2,91,505 votes, the sitting MP from AITC candidate Prasun Banerjee, won with a margin of 1,96,956 votes. The polling percentage for Howrah constituency in 2014 was 74.79%.

In 2009, the winner for the 15th Lok Sabha election was a AITC candidate Ambica Banerjee who defeated the CPM candidate Swadesh Chakraborty with a margin of 37,392 votes. The winner and the runner up received 4,77,449 votes and 4,40,057 votes respectively. The polling percentage in Howrah constituency in 2009 election was 73.91%.

In 1971, 1977 and 1980 CPM's Samar Mukherjee won the elections in Howrah constituency of West Bengal. In 1984, INC candidate Priya Ranjan Das Munshi won the election from Howrah seat.

In 1989 and 1991, Sushanta Chakraborty was elected. In 1996, Priya Ranjan Das Munsi won the seat from Howrah constituency. In 1998, WBTC candidate Dr Bikram Sarkar won the election from Howrah seat.

In 1999 and 2004, Swadesh Chakraborty from CPM won the elections from Howrah constituency.

In 2019 General Election, Prasun Banerjee from AITC, Prasun Banerjee from BJP, Suvra Ghosh from INC and Sumitro Adhikary from CPIM are contesting from Howrah constituency in West Bengal.

In Howrah Lok Sabha constituency of Rajasthan, the assembly segments are Bally, Howrah Uttar, Howrah Madhya, Shibpur, Howrah Dakshin, Sankrail and Panchla.
