The Hooghly Lok Sabha constituency consists of assembly segments Singur, Chandannagar, Chunchura, Pandua and Saptagram. Dhanekhali and Balagarh are reserved for the scheduled caste candidates.

The Hooghly constituency is one of the 543 parliamentary constituencies in India.

The Hooghly lok sabha constituency went to polls on May 06 in the fifth phase of 2019 general election. The poll results will be released on May 23.

A total of 17, 64,629 electorates have been registered in this constituency this time among which are 8, 90,044 male voters, 8, 74,549 female voters and 36 third gender voters.

This time 2039 polling stations have been assigned to conduct the voting process smoothly.

Two-time MP and the incumbent parliamentarian from the Hooghly seat, Dr Ratan De, will contest for the seat this time as well. Dr Ratan De has represented the constituency twice as a TMC candidate. In 2014 he had defeated CPI (M) fielded by Pradip Saha with a margin of 1, 89,084 votes.

Since 1989 to 2009, CPIM candidate Rupchand Pal won the elections consecutively for six terms.

A total of nine candidates are in fray for the Hooghly seat this time, among which are two independent candidates.

Among key contestants are Pratul Chandra Saha from INC, Pradip Saha from CPI (M), Locket Chatterjee from BJP and Vijay Kumar Mahato from BSP.
