The Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in the Thiruvananthapuram constituency of Kerala was held on April 23, 2019. The 2019 elections happened during the third phase Thiruvananthapuram constituency is one of the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala.In 2014 elections, Dr Shashi Tharoor, from the Indian National Congress was the winner. The polling percentage in the 2014 elections was 68.63%. The runner-up in the Lok Sabha 2014 election was O Rajagopal from BJP. The overall margin between the two candidates was 15,470. The Polling was done on April 10, 2014 followed by the counting on May 16, 2014 .

In 2009, the winner for the Lok Sabha elections was INC's Shashi Tharoor who received 3,26,725 votes in the constituency of Thiruvananthapuram and the runner- up was CPI's Adv. P Ramachandran Nair received 2,26,727 votes for the constituency.The overall margin between the two candidates was 99,998. The results were declared on May 16, 2009.

In 1971, V.K. Krishna Menon, who was an independent candidate won the seat with 52.99% share in votes.

In 1977 elections, CPI's M.N. Govindan Nair was the winner. In 1980 Lok Sabha elections, A. Neelalohithadasan Nadar from INC was the winner. In 1984, A. Charles defeated other candidates. In 1996, K.V. Surendranath from the CPI was the winner, and received 3, 12,622 votes defeating A. Charles from INC , who received 2,91,820 votes.

In 1998, K.Karunakaran from Indian National Congress was the winner, with 3,37,429 votes. In 1999 elections, Advocate V.S. Sivakumar was the winner. In 2004 general elections, P.K. Vasudevan Nair from CPI was the winner. In 2005 by-polls,Pannyan Raveendran of CPI was the winner.

Kiran Kumar S.K. from Bahujan Samaj Party, Kummanam Rajasekharan from BJP, C. Divakaran from CPI and Dr. Shashi Tharoor from INC are contesting the Lok Sabha 2019 elections with other independent candidates.

In Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency of Kerala, the assembly segments are Thiruvananthapuram, Kazhakuttom, Vattiyoorkavu, Nemom, Kovalam, Neyyattinkara and Parassala.
