The Kollam constituency will go to polls on April 23 along with 19 other constituencies in Kerala. A total of 599797 male voters, 659597 female voters and 6 third gender voters are exercising their franchise in the Kollam lok sabha constituency this time. In the last general election, the voter turnout was 72.10% in the Kollam constituency.

7876 votes in the Kollam constituency was registered under the NOTA option.

The Revolutionary Socialist Party, Congress and the CPI (M) have a strong influence in the Kollam seat. While Congress has won the seat 4 times, the ruling party Revolutionary Socialist Party is in its seventh term. CPI (M) had represented the constituency in 13th and 14 Lok Sabha.

Aiming for a second consecutive term, incumbent MP N K Premachandran is representing the Revolutionary Socialist Party in the 2019 general election.

He will be contesting against CPI (M) candidate KN Balagopal and Bharatiya Janata Party nominated Adv.K.V.Sabu.

SUCI (Communist) is fielding Twinkle Prabhakaran as its MP candidate from the Kollam constituency.

Among other contenders are-- N.Jayarajan, Nagaraj.G, Dr.Sreekumar.J, Saji Kollam and Suni Kalluvathukkal—contesting as independent candidates.
