About Korba

In the 2014 general elections, Banshilal Mahto was elected from Korba seat in Chhattisgarh on a BJP ticket. He received 4,39,002 votes. His closes opponent was Congress's Charan Das Mahant who received 4,34,737 votes.

In 2014 the voter turnout was 73.95 per cent, which was a huge improvement from the last general elections in 2009 when the voter turnout was only 58.41 per cent.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha election, Charan Das Mahant had won from the Korba seat on a ticket from Congress. He received 3,14,616 votes. His closest opponent was Karuna Shukla from BJP who received 2,93,879 votes.

Korba seat came into existence in 2008 after delimitation and was earlier a part of Sarangarh constituency.

In the 2004 elections, BJP candidate Guharam Ajgalle was elected from the Sarangarh seat in Chhattisgarh. Before that PR Khute was elected to parliament on a BJP ticket from Sarangarh seat which was a part of Madhya Pradesh at the time.

For the 2019 general election, BJP has fielded Jyoti Nand Dubey, Congress has Fielded Jyotsna Charandas Mahant, and BSP has fielded Parmit Singh.

There are eight assembly segments under the Korba Lok Sabha constituency. These include Bharatpur-Sonhat, Manendragarh, Baikunthpur, Rampur, Korba, Katghora, Pali-Tanakhar, and Marwahi.
