About Durg

In the 2014 general election, Congress's Tamradhwaj Sahu was elected from the Durg Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 16,848 votes. Mr Sahu had received 5,70,687 votes, while his closest opponent, BJP's Saroj Pandey, got 5,53,839 votes.

In the 2009 general election, Saroj Pandey of the BJP won the Durg Lok Sabha constituency defeating Pradeep Choubey of the Congress. From the general elections of 1996 to 2004, BJP's Tarachand Sahu had represented the Durg Lok Sabha constituency.

For the general elections of 2019, there are 21 candidates contesting from Durg, including Geetanjali Singh from BSP, Pratima Chandrakar from Congress, and Vijay Baghel from BJP.

Durg constituency has 9 assembly segments under it. These include Patan, Durg Rural, Durg City, Bhilai Nagar, Vaishali Nagar, Ahiwara (SC), Saja, Bemetara and Nawagarh (SC).
