About Bilaspur

In the 2014 general elections, BJP's Lakhan Lal Sahu was elected from Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 1,76,436 votes. Mr Sahu had received 5,61,387 votes while his closest opponent, Congress's Karuna Shukla, niece of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former MP, had got 3,84,951 votes.

In the 2009 general elections, BJP's Dilip Singh Judeo won the seat after defeating Renu Jogi of the Congress.

The BJP won this seat seven times since 1989. Punnulal Mohle of BJP had represented Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency four times - from 1996 to 2004.

In the 2019 general election, there are 25 candidates contesting the polls. The Congress has nominated its state general secretary Atal Shrivastav, who is locked in a battle with BJP's Arun Sao. Other candidates include Uttam Das Guroo Gosai from the BSP, and 12 other independent candidates.

There are 7 assembly segments under Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency. These include Kota, Lormi, Mungeli, Takhatpur, Bilha, Bilaspur and Beltara.
