Election Results 2014: 'India Wins', Tweets Narendra Modi as BJP Sweeps Polls

New Delhi: The BJP and its allies will form the next government under Narendra Modi, who is headed to the Prime Minister's residence at 7 Race Course Road, Delhi. They now have a runaway lead with 339 seats and do not need any support to run a stable government.

  1. "India has won! This is India's victory. Good days will soon be here," Narendra Modi, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, tweeted. His party alone is on its way to winning 285 seats, comfortably above the halfway mark. (India Decides 2014: Track Live Results Here)

  3. The Congress' 2014 story will be told in double digits, its worst performance ever.  "We failed to communicate our successes. Only our failures were communicated.   6. In nine other states the BJP has won all seats including Delhi's seven and Haryana's seven. Narendra Modi's Gujarat, which will give the country its next Prime Minister, is handing all 26 seats to the BJP.

  7. In Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa's magnificent performance will make her AIADMK the third largest party in the Lok Sabha with 36 of the state's 39 seats, but "good friend" Narendra Modi does not need her help after all.

  8. In Seemandhra, Chandrababu Naidu's canny alliance with the BJP has paid off. The combine is leading in 16 seats. Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress is ahead in nine; the ruling Congress is wiped out. In Telangana, the TRS or Telangana Rashtra Samithi is holding sway.

  9. In Karnataka, the BJP is ahead. In Maharashtra, the BJP and Shiv Sena are set to win 36 of 48 seats.
