Triumph Motorcycle is preparing to further strengthen its India lineup with the Triumph Bonneville 400. The neo-retro motorcycle has now been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time and is expected to become a part of Triumph's domestic portfolio in the near future. Once launched, the Triumph Bonneville 400 will take on the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Seen in an undisguised form, the Classic 350 rival appears close to production readiness, and here's what the baby Bonneville could offer.

The latest spy image of the Triumph Bonneville 400 indicates that the motorcycle gets a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a circular LED headlamp, and a single-pod instrument cluster, along with a flat bench-style single-piece seat. These remain signature Bonneville styling cues, complemented by a rear grab rail and twin shock absorbers. Even the mudguards and their stays stay true to the traditional Bonneville design language seen on larger motorcycles carrying the same badge.

From a styling perspective, the Triumph Bonneville 400 continues to retain the brand's classic roadster silhouette. The rear section looks almost production-ready, although the test mule did not feature a tail-light unit. Up front, revised switchgear and an updated instrument console can be seen, though it remains unclear whether Triumph will use a TFT display or a reverse-LCD setup.

The Triumph Bonneville 400 is expected to use more conventional hardware instead of the premium cycle parts seen on the Speed 400. It is likely to feature telescopic front forks in place of the USD setup used on the Speed 400. At the rear, the motorcycle will use twin shock absorbers, and to support this layout, the company could introduce a new subframe and swingarm, or a significantly reworked version of the current unit.
Powering the India-spec Triumph Bonneville 400 will likely be the same 349cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This motor currently produces 37 hp and 32 Nm in the Speed 400 and Scrambler range. With the Triumph Bonneville 400, the brand is aiming to further expand its neo-retro portfolio while taking on the already well-established Royal Enfield Classic 350.
