- Ryn Motors unveiled the FP3, a Formula 1-style three-wheeled lightweight vehicle
- The FP3 uses a 1,340 cc Suzuki Hayabusa engine producing up to 290 hp with a turbo for the higher variant
- It weighs 517 kg and accelerates from 0 to 96 km/h in 2.8 seconds
Ryn Motors, a small American startup, has introduced the FP3, a lightweight vehicle with styling inspired by Formula 1 cars. It comes as a street-legal three-wheeler but allows owners to convert it into a four-wheeled configuration. The design enables the vehicle to navigate U.S. registration rules for autocycles while offering Formula-style performance for track use. The company has opened reservations, with deliveries planned to begin later this year.
Formula 1 Style Three-Wheeled Vehicle: Ryn FP3
The Ryn FP3 features a semi-monocoque chassis with a space-frame base reinforced by aluminium sheeting, giving it the appearance of a genuine race car complete with a central cockpit and a protective halo structure. Typically, such open-wheel designs face barriers to road legality in the United States, but Ryn Motors addresses this by delivering the vehicle initially as a three-wheeler. This setup includes a chain-driven rear end akin to a motorcycle, qualifying it as an autocycle under current regulations. Owners can then swap components to achieve the four-wheeled layout for enhanced track capabilities.

Ryn FP3: Powertrain
Power comes from a 1,340 cc four-cylinder engine sourced from the Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle. In its naturally aspirated form, the engine produces 210 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and 163 Nm of torque at 9,800 rpm, paired with a six-speed transmission. The car's curb weight of just 517 kg, achieved through extensive fibreglass bodywork, allows it to accelerate from 0 to 96 kmph in 2.8 seconds. It also generates up to 2.6G of lateral force in corners, underscoring its racing pedigree.

For buyers wanting more power, Ryn offers a turbocharged version of the Hayabusa engine, rated at 290 hp and 176 Nm of torque. Aerodynamics form a key part of the FP3's engineering, with bodywork capable of producing up to 317 kg of downforce at speed. This emphasis on downforce and lightweight construction positions the FP3 primarily as a track-focused machine, though its three-wheeled delivery ensures compliance for public roads.
FP3: Here's What It Costs
Originally, the FP3 was set to use a 1,100 cc Aprilia engine, but the switch to the Hayabusa provides greater reliability and performance potential. Pricing starts at $78,499 (around Rs 73.72 lakh) for the base model and rises to $101,499 (Rs 95.32 lakh) for the turbocharged FP3. Development remains in progress, with the Early Access Edition slated for delivery in November 2026, followed by the Founder's Edition in May 2027 and the Launch Edition in December 2027.
