Mahindra & Mahindra Eyeing Expansion With 350 Acre Land In Lagatpuri

Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to expand its production capacity for both domestic and international markets. The company has recently submitted a letter of interest to the Maharashtra government, requesting 350 acres of land in Lagatpuri. Mahindra already operates manufacturing facilities in Nashik and Igatpuri, and acquiring this new land parcel will further strengthen its production capabilities.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Executive Director and CEO (Auto and Farm Sector), said, "We have submitted a letter of interest for 350 acres of land in Igatpuri, which is part of our ecosystem. The land parcel could be used for multiple things, including setting up a supplier park and anything that we may need more for either Nashik or the Igatpuri plant."

The brand officials also disclosed that the proposal is at a preliminary stage and needs to undergo the entire due diligence process, which will be followed by various levels of regulatory and internal approvals.

Apart from eyeing a new facility, Mahindra is also planning to increase production at its Chakan plant. Mahindra & Mahindra CEO, Automotive Division, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, emphasised that the brand is working to expand its production by around 2.4 lakh units, accounting for a total production of around 7-7.5 lakh units per year. Also, the Indian automaker is planning to invest over Rs 27,000 crore in its automotive business between FY25 and FY27.
