- Jaguar has named its upcoming all-electric GT car the Jaguar Type 01
- The Type 01 will debut globally in 2026, marking Jaguar’s electric era start

Jaguar has officially revealed the name of its upcoming all-electric four-door GT car, and it will be called the Jaguar Type 01. The new Jaguar Type 01 will mark the beginning of the brand's new electric-only era and is expected to make its global debut later in 2026.
The Jaguar Type 01 name carries inspiration from some of the company's iconic models from the past, including the legendary E-Type. According to Jaguar, the "Type" part of the name pays tribute to its heritage, while the "0" highlights zero tailpipe emissions. The "1" represents the first model in Jaguar's next-generation EV lineup.
The Jaguar Type 01 was earlier previewed through the Type 00 concept, which grabbed attention for its bold and futuristic styling. Recent test mule images of the Jaguar Type 01 suggest that the production model will retain several design elements from the concept version. The electric GT is expected to feature a long bonnet, sleek roofline, upright front and rear sections, and bold styling details. The Jaguar Type 01 is also likely to miss out on a traditional rear windscreen, adding to its unique appearance.
Jaguar Type 00 Concept
Jaguar has confirmed that the Jaguar Type 01 will come with a powerful tri-motor electric setup. The performance-focused EV is expected to produce more than 1,000 hp along with over 1,300 Nm of torque. Reports also suggest that the Jaguar Type 01 will be based on the brand's new Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA).

The Jaguar Type 01 prototypes will make a public appearance at the Monaco Formula E-Prix scheduled for May 16-17, 2026. Jaguar says the prototypes will feature a special camouflage wrap before the final production model is revealed later this year.

In terms of driving range, the Jaguar Type 01 is expected to offer around 700 km on a full charge under WLTP standards. The EV is also likely to get advanced suspension technology, including air suspension with active dampers, to improve ride comfort and handling.
The Jaguar Type 01 is expected to play an important role in shaping the future direction of the British luxury carmaker. While the global reveal is scheduled for later this year, the Jaguar Type 01 could arrive in India by late 2027 or early 2028.
