BMW has transformed a top-spec XM luxury SUV into a rolling DJ stage with the reveal of the XM Label Soundmachine. The high-end plug-in-hybrid crossover now serves as a fully functional mobile sound system and performance platform, rather than a conventionally driven luxury car. The last known value of the car in the Indian market was Rs 3.15 crore. Because this is an upgraded machine in multiple aspects, it is even more expensive. However, it doesn't have a price tag yet.

Built by apprentices at BMW's Dingolfing plant, the one-off XM Label Soundmachine is wrapped in chrome and carries special graphics branding it as "The Ultimate Sound Machine." The most eye-catching feature is the roof-mounted platform, designed to double as a DJ stand where artists can perform as the vehicle moves or remains parked.

Around the stage, four structural pillars support a canopy and a double-sided LED screen measuring over 64 square feet (about 6 square metres). The setup also includes fixed and moving stage lights, four large speakers, and four subwoofers from dBTechnologies.

Under the entertainment-focused bodywork sits a full-sized Pioneer DJ rig, comprising a DJM-V10 mixer and two CDJ-3000X players, giving turntablists full control of the on-board system. To complete the club-style atmosphere, BMW has integrated four fog machines into the XM's wheel arches, adding a theatrical touch to its live appearances.

Despite the added weight, BMW says the superstructure tips the scales at around 1,400 kg, bringing the total mass to roughly 2,800 kg, the XM Label Soundmachine remains fully functional. It reportedly has a TUV0-approved top speed of about 15 km/h, which is sufficient for its role as a low-speed show vehicle.

The powertrain is the same high-performance plug-in hybrid unit as the production XM, combining a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 engine, a 19.2-kWh battery, and an electric motor inside an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers 738 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, while also enabling the sound system, LED screen, and lights to run for up to an hour on battery power alone.

The XM Label Soundmachine made its unofficial debut at the Electric Mountain Festival in Solden last month and has since appeared at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. It will also feature at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this summer, reinforcing BMW's blend of motorsport imagery with high-end luxury and audio technology.
