'Wave For Me at Par With Modi Wave of 2014': Kiran Bedi to NDTV

New Delhi:

Kiran Bedi, the BJP's chief ministerial candidate for Delhi, said today that there is a wave in the capital for her at par with the response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.

"It's a same wave as it was for Mr Modi. It's the same wave. Women, youngsters, elders, across the board... It's the same wave," Ms Bedi said at NDTV's Delhi Townhall show on Wednesday.

Ms Bedi, 65, questioned reports of a less than enthusiastic response to her campaign in Delhi, where assembly polls will be held on February 7.

"When there is a roadshow, I see the roads totally jammed, and the next day I hear that it was very thinly attended...because (media) were not there. I was there, I could see it. They had gone back because they could not keep pace," said the former police officer, who is contesting her first ever election.

The BJP has credited its spectacular victory in last year's national election and several state elections to a perceived wave in favour of PM Modi and his development mantra.

The party's move to name a chief ministerial candidate for Delhi marks a departure from recent state polls where the prime minister was the only face on BJP campaign posters.

The verdict of polls in Delhi will be announced on February 10.
