Boston:
A small electrical fire filled the cabin of a Japan Airlines jet with smoke on Monday morning about 15 minutes after it landed in Boston.
The Massachusetts Port Authority's fire chief says the 173 passengers and 11 crew members had already left the jet when a mechanic spotted smoke.
The mechanic was the only person on board the Boeing 787 at the time, and no one was hurt.
Chief Bob Donahue says he thinks the fire in the jet's auxiliary battery system started after the plane had already landed at Logan International Airport. He says the fire was quickly brought under control.
Japan Airlines began nonstop service between Boston and Tokyo's Narita Airport using the new Boeing 787 in April.
