Every year on January 30th, the city of Ahmedabad marks the time of Mahatma Gandhi's death by sounding a siren. This year for the first time in over 60 years this did not happen. And many old time residents wondered what this signified in a state which now has little value for his message of non-violence. But the Mahatma's symbolic strength is undiminished.
