Lokpal Bill passed in Lok Sabha, but no constitutional status

The historic Lokpal Bill sailed through in Lok Sabha, but not before 11 long hours of debate on the contents of the draft. However, the Lokpal will not be a constitutional body as the government did not manage a two-thirds majority on two of the three clauses of the Constitutional Amendment Bill.
