How India has fared at the four stadiums for the series

The first test-match: The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad is very much new to the Indian circuit and has majorly hosted sporadic ODIs since 2005. The Men in Blue have lost three of the four one-day games they have played at the stadium - two of them to the Aussies, one to South Africa. The only match they won here was against England in 2011. In the series against New Zealand, the first test-match is scheduled for the stadium in Hyderabad. The only test-match to have been played at the ground was also between the same sides in 2010/11. The game ended in a draw as batsmen flourished.

The second test: India and New Zealand will move on to Bangalore after the first test. The M Chinnaswamy stadium is one of India's finest grounds. With a good pitch, it offers a tough contest between bat and ball.

India has performed outstandingly well in one-day internationals played at Bangalore. Of the 18 played here, they have won 12, lost 4 and one match was tied. When the Black Caps last toured India in November-December 2010, one ODI was played in Bangalore. India won that match by five wickets thanks to Yusuf Pathan's blistering knock.

This time though, the second test match is to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and India have fared badly in the five-day version at the ground. Of the 19 matches played here, the Men in Blue (or white in the case) have won 5, lost 6 and drawn 8. The last time India-New Zealand played here was way back in 1995 and India won that match by 8 wickets.

The first Twenty20: For the first T20 of the series, the teams move to the Indira Priyadarshini Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The stadium has just hosted 5 ODIs till now and India has featured in three of them, winning two and losing one. India won the only one-day they played here against New Zealand way back in 1988. The photograph shows India-Australia ODI back in 2001 which India lost badly by 93 runs. This will be the first T20 international at the stadium.

The last match: The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, commonly known as Chepauk, will host the final match of the series, a Twenty20. Although a lot of IPL matches have taken place here, this will be the first international T20.

The Chepauk is probably the most happy hunting ground for the home side. Of the 30 test-matches played here, India has won 12, lost 6, tied 1 and drawn 11. Of the 9 ODIs played here, the Men in Blue have won 5 and lost 3. The stadium is also the home ground of the Chennai Super Kings, led by Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
