Euro 2012: 'Psychic' animals hog headlines

It was Paul the Octopus during the FIFA World Cup in 2010 accurately predicting the results of football matches. Come Euro 2012, and the eight-legged creature's success has spawned a plethora of copycat "psychics", including Citta the Elephant in Krakow and Funtik the Pig in Kiev. Interestingly, none of these wild oracles have achieved much success with their predictions. Here's quick look at these 'psychic animals'...

  • Citta, a 33-year-old female elephant chooses a melon above a sign indicating a win for the Poland football team at Krakow zoo at the zoo in the southern Polish city of Krakow.

    Citta was given the option to choose between a win for the Poland football team, the Greek team or a draw between the two, for their first round match. Contrary to the prediction, the match ended in a draw. (AFP Photo)
  • Elephants 'Shahrukh' and 'Shanti' eat fruits and vegetables decorated as a German flag with honeymelons and aubergines at Hagenbecks Tierpark in Hamburg. The elephants correctly picked Germany as the winner against Portugal. (AFP Photo)
  • Otter 'Ferret' votes for Germany as it predicts the result of the upcoming Euro 2012 match of the Netherlands against Germany at the zoo in Aue, eastern Germany. Holland take on Germany in the Group B key clash on June 13, with the World Cup finalists knowing another defeat could threaten an early exit from Euro 2012 following their shock loss to Denmark.
