Phase 1 polling ends, 72.5% turnout in Assam
The nine-phase polling began on April 7, with voting in five constituencies of Assam - Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur, along with one constituency of Tripura West.

Phase 1 polling ends, 72.5% turnout in AssamThe first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in five seats in Assam and one in Tripura were held on Monday. The elections was held peacefuly and recorded a huge voter turnout of 72.5 per cent in Assam and 84 per cent in Tripura.
The Election Commission said later in the evening that it expects voter turnout in Assam to cross 75 per cent. -
