Forbes, known for churning out rich lists and other such rankings each year, has this time come out with a list of ugly cars for 2013. The top 10:

Toyota Prius V
The Prius V is a full hybrid petrol-electric MPV produced by Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. The 'V', Toyota says, stands for versatility. The fifth-generation icon of hybrid technology is successful despite its looks, not because of them, says Forbes.

Scion tC
The Scion tC is manufactured by Scion, a division of Toyota. According to Scion, tC stands for touring copue. The vehicle is not sold in Japan. Instead of combing the best of both sedans and coupes, its bland front and oddly configured rear gather the worst of both, says Forbes.

Scion iQ
It's called the Toyota iQ in Japan, while the North American version is called Scion iQ. A rebadged version is the Aston Martin Cygnet. The 'i' in iQ, Toyota says, stands for individuality, innovation and intelligence, while 'Q' stands for quality and also represents the vehicle's cubic shape, "which isn't exactly the ideal describer of what should be a cool, fast or powerful vehicle", says Forbes.

Dodge Avenger
The Dodge Avenger is a mid-size sedan manufactured by Chryler Group Llc in a global strategic alliance with Fiat. It is available in more than 60 countries. "Lumbering, awkwardly square, ponderous, dull: these are the words that come to mind when faced with the blank grill and distended angles of Dodge's attempt to revitalize a nameplate," says Forbes.

Dodge Charger
Another Dodge makes the ugly list. The badge Charger is not restricted to just one car. Several cars built on different platforms and of different sizes have sported the Charger nameplate, though the name is generally associated with the performance model.

Mini Coupe
The Mini Coupe was unveiled in June 2011 and formally launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September the same year. "Cool yarmulke" is an oxymoron, and should never be used as a design inspiration, says Forbes.

Mercedes-Benz SL550
The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is a grand tourer in production since 1954. The 2013 variant is powered by a 4.6-litre biturbo V-8 engine that belts out 429 bhp. "A Mercedes SL Roadster should exude style. This one looks like it was styled by an extruder," says Forbes.

Smart ForTwo is a rear-engine two-seater city car manufactured by Smart GmbH, and was introduced at the 1998 Paris Motor Show. Smart is an automotive branch of Daimler AG.
