New Delhi: A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old boy in Delhi's Tigri area on Friday evening. The accused was detained and produced in the Juvenile Justice Court, police said today. He was later sent to a juvenile home.

The girl was rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre in a critical condition where she had to undergo a surgery for her injuries. Her condition is stated to be stable now.

"Surgical procedure was followed... she is stable now but will remain in care of paediatrics department for four or five days," said Amit Gupta, spokesperson, AIIMS.

The girl, a class 1 student, was allegedly kidnapped by three men around 6. 30 pm from a park close to her home in South Delhi's Tigri area and was taken to another park nearby where she was raped by the juvenile and was left in an unconscious state. Later, her neighbours spotted her and informed the family members.

The two other accused are still absconding.

Senior police officials said the investigation was initiated immediately after the case was registered at Neb Sarai Police station. A medical examination was also conducted, the police said.

The accused, a college dropout, was known to the girl's family and is from the same locality, an official said.

This is the second incident of rape in the national capital in the last two days. A 14-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by six men on Friday at Dichaon village near southwest Delhi's Najafgarh area.
