US: Parents held as toddler consumes cocaine

London: Parents of a child in a US city have been arrested after the toddler was found to be high on drugs.

Officers in Atascadero city of California believe the 18-month-old boy swallowed cocaine because it had been "left out where he could get it", Daily Mail reported.

The child was rushed to a hospital after his 20-year-old mother Priscilla Tabarez called up an ambulance for help.

The child is now under protective custody at child welfare services, said officials.

Meanwhile, the child's mother Tabarez and father Daniel Sanchez, 27, have been arrested. The kid's uncle Isaac Tabarez, 18, has also taken into custody.

All three were booked for felony child endangerment and remain behind bars with bail set at $100,000.

According to police, further investigation may lead to drug charges.
