South Korean President Park Geun-hye on Tuesday nominated a new prime minister, an official said.
Moon Chang-keuk, a former journalist at a daily newspaper, was named to replace the incumbent prime minister Chung Hong-won, who offered resignation after the ferry disaster which killed 292 people with 12 more missing, Xinhua quoted the official as saying.
South Korean ambassador to Japan Lee Byung-ki was nominated as the new chief of National Intelligence Service (NIS), the country's spy agency, the official said.
