New York: An artist is selling his portrait of a Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban for campaigning for girls' education to help further her cause.

Jonathan Yeo is a leading British portraitist. He painted Malala Yousafzai in 2013 after she started attending a school in Birmingham, England, where she now lives.

The painting was part of an exhibition of Yeo's work at the National Portrait Gallery in London last year. It shows the teen doing her homework.

Christie's auction house is offering it for sale Wednesday. It has a presale estimate of $60,000 to $80,000. Yeo says he'll donate all the proceeds to The Malala Fund.

Yeo is famous for his life-like portraits of well-known figures. They include Sienna Miller, Kevin Spacey and Rupert Murdoch.
