For Imran Khan's New Bride, A Row Over Alleged Domestic Abuse

Islamabad: The man who was married to Imran Khan's new bride, Reham Khan, has denied allegations that he physically abused her and failed to pay child support.

In a statement released to the press in Pakistan and UK, Dr Ijaz Rehman, who was married to Reham Khan for 15 years, said, "I have never lifted hands on anyone. I have never been involved in any kind of domestic violence in any shape or form. While I was married to Reham, I always looked after my children and wife very well. I provided every kind of luxury to them. My ex-wife had every kind of liberty and no restriction of any kind."

Reham Khan, 41, a journalist, married cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, 20 years her senior, last week in Pakistan. She said in a television interview in Pakistan on January 9 that she had been subjected to domestic abuse during her first marriage. She has three sons with Dr Rehman.

In her interview, she reportedly said, according to the UK's Daily Mail, "I have never spoken about my personal experience of domestic violence because I was in [the] media and I felt it would be unfair to expose the other party."  (Read Report in Daily Mail)
