The death of iconic Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has taken a dramatic turn as his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, publicly called the circumstances "mysterious" and alleged negligence. Speaking after the 11th-day rituals, Garima demanded clarity on the events leading to his death and said the family had not been informed about a supposed yacht party Zubeen attended.
Amid growing public pressure, the Assam government, led by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, has sought the Centre's help to invoke the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) with Singapore, where Zubeen died, to access crucial details in the case.
Meanwhile, the Congress party in Assam has alleged a cover-up, claiming the accused are being treated like VIPs and demanding a fair, transparent probe.
