The BJP candidate for Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya, is the party's youngest candidate across the country. The 28-year-old lawyer was a surprise choice - who made the headlines again when old tweets of his were deemed communal and misogynistic. His opponent in the seat is the Congress's BK Hariprasad who is the coalition candidate supported by the JDS too. The seat was held by the late Ananth Kumar of the BJP since 1996 until his death late last year.
