Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in an interview with Press Trust Of India took a swipe at Trinamool Congress and alleged that the incumbent West Bengal government tries to drive a wedge between two communities. The leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha and five-time MP from Berhampore seat also said "TMC has been exhausting all its resources to prove that this time candidate fielded by the ruling party ( TMC has placed former cricketer Yusuf Pathan from the  Berhampore seat ) should be given more preference because he belongs to minority community and I belong to Hindu community."
