"We Don't Need Them": Trump's Ban On 12 Nations | Tharoor's Blunt Message To Pakistan | India Global

In a major move, U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a new proclamation reinstating his controversial travel ban this time expanding the list to 12 countries, including Myanmar, Afghanistan, Iran, Chad, Somalia, and Yemen. The White House says the ban is aimed at protecting national security, citing difficulties in properly vetting migrants from these nations. But what's not on the list is raising even more eyebrows. Noticeably absent is Pakistan, a country long accused of harbouring U.S.-designated terrorist groups. This comes despite reports from earlier this year suggesting the Trump administration was considering sweeping travel restrictions that would have included Pakistan. During his first term, Trump adopted a tough posture toward Islamabad, criticizing its ties to terrorism. So, the question now: what changed, and why the sudden shift? Is Pakistan being spared a mere coincidence or something far deeper. Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, leading an all-party delegation in Washington, has made it clear-India doesn't need to be persuaded against war, because it doesn't seek one. Speaking on Operation Sindoor, Tharoor said if there was any pressure from President Trump or his officials, it was likely aimed at Pakistan. He emphasized that India's response was simply retribution against terrorism, and if Pakistan hadn't reacted, neither would India. Tharoor also dismissed U.S. claims that trade diplomacy helped ease tensions, saying America now understands India's firm stance that there can be no dialogue with Pakistan with a 'gun pointed at our head'. NDTV's Gaurie Dwivedi explains the details.
