A 21-year-old BSc student in Madhya Pradesh has taken up the task of cleaning the polluted Ajnar River in Biaora. Surendra Singh Chaudhary, known on social media as ‘Bittu Tabahi’, began the campaign on January 26, 2026, and has been removing waste and debris from the river largely on his own, despite health risks and encounters with snakes. His efforts have now received support from the Biaora municipality, which has provided heavy machinery to help remove accumulated waste. Chaudhary has also faced infections while cleaning the river near a local temple and has shared before-and-after photographs on social media, drawing attention to his campaign.
