Vande Mataram Bill Sparks Political Storm: BJP, Congress Clash on National Song

The Centre's proposed amendment to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 has sparked a major political and constitutional debate. The Bill seeks to give Vande Mataram the same legal protection as the National Anthem, making insulting, disrupting or obstructing its singing punishable with up to three years in jail, a fine, or both.
