Vande Mataram Row: Congress Faces Pushback From Ally National Conference

The Vande Mataram debate has resurfaced, putting the Congress at odds with ally National Conference and the BJP. Congress has urged the National Conference to sing only the two stanzas adopted in 1937, citing India's pluralist and secular ethos. The move came after Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah stood for the full song at an event in Srinagar. The BJP has accused Congress of being isolated on the issue.
