A late-night storm triggered the collapse of a slab on an under-construction bridge over the Betwa River in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district, killing at least six workers and injuring three others. Officials said several labourers were sleeping on the structure when the bridge gave way around 2 a.m. SDRF teams, police and district authorities launched a massive rescue operation amid fears that more workers could be trapped beneath the debris. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the tragedy and directed officials to ensure all possible assistance to the victims and their families.
