US Snowstorm | Winter Storm Cripples US: National Guards Deployed, Helicopters Restore Power

A deadly winter storm has crippled large parts of the southern United States, leaving nearly 300,000 homes and businesses without electricity and at least 80 people dead. Mississippi and Tennessee are racing to restore power as another Arctic blast threatens to push temperatures into dangerous teens across the Southeast. National Guard troops, emergency crews, and utility workers are clearing debris, rescuing stranded motorists, delivering food and medical supplies, and restoring snapped power lines. Warming centers are sheltering families displaced by prolonged outages, while helicopters and linemen work in extreme conditions to bring back electricity. Officials in Mississippi have called it the worst winter disaster since 1994, as dangerous cold and wind chills continue to pose severe risks.
