US PERM Suspension: Indian IT Workers Face Uncertainty, Tech Firms Warn Of Talent Shortages

The Trump administration’s suspension of major companies from the PERM programme has raised concerns over green card prospects for Indian IT professionals and talent shortages in the US technology sector. Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce and Innovation’s Harbir Kaur Bhatia warned that foreign-born workers are vital to America’s specialised STEM workforce, while Raymond James Investment Management’s Matt Orton said Indian IT firms have already reduced their dependence on H-1B visas. Experts warn the move could complicate hiring, weaken innovation and push companies to reconsider US investments.
