"Unwarranted": India Slams Vance's "Indentured Servants" Remark On H-1B Hiring

India has criticised US Vice President JD Vance’s remarks on foreign workers, calling them “unwarranted” amid the suspension of applications under the US Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme for eight IT firms. The Ministry of External Affairs defended the contribution of Indian professionals, saying talent mobility benefits both economies through innovation, research and job creation. New Delhi clarified that the suspension does not automatically affect existing H-1B visas, but could disrupt eligible employees’ green card applications. India also described terminology carrying colonial connotations as deeply offensive.
