UN Adopts New Map Resolution, Africa To Appear More Accurately

The United Nations General Assembly has endorsed a resolution encouraging the use of world maps that more accurately represent the true size of continents. The move promotes the Equal Earth projection, which addresses distortions in the widely used Mercator map, including the underrepresentation of Africa. The resolution was backed by 164 countries, while the United States voted against it and six countries abstained.
