US President Donald Trump has claimed that India has struck a deal to buy crude oil from Venezuela instead of Iran, saying the “concept of the deal” is already in place. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump made the assertion even as New Delhi offered no immediate response. The claim comes amid US-imposed tariffs on countries purchasing Venezuelan and Russian oil, including India. Trump also said the US has taken control of Venezuela after the arrest of former President Nicolas Maduro.
