Siddique Kappan, a journalist from Kerala, who was arrested in Uttar Pradesh on terror charges more than two years ago while reporting on the rape and murder of a young woman whose death sparked nationwide protests, was released from jail today. A special court in Lucknow had signed his release order more than a month after he got bail in the two cases against him. Speaking to NDTV after his release, he said, "journalism is not a crime."
