Tamil Nadu Secretariat Row: Fishermen To Protest Over Proposed ₹1,200-Crore Complex

A fresh flashpoint has emerged in Tamil Nadu over the proposed Secretariat-Assembly complex at Pattinapakkam. Fishermen’s hamlets in the area have announced a protest on September 29, demanding that the government drop the proposed ₹1,200-crore project, which they say could affect their livelihoods. The government has maintained that no final decision has been taken and that a Detailed Project Report is being prepared. Ministers have also said the Chief Minister will review the project and ensure that fishermen and the wider public are not adversely affected.
