South India Bus Strike: 1,500 Omni Buses Off Roads Over Double Tax Protest

Inter-state omni bus services across South India have been halted as operators protest against what they call double taxation by individual states. Around 1,500 buses have gone off the roads, disrupting travel across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry. Operators argue they already pay a ‘One India’ tax and that additional state levies have made operations unviable. NDTV’s Sam Daniel reports from Chennai’s Koyambedu Omni Bus Terminus.
