South America On Edge: US-Venezuela Tensions Spike

There’s a growing likelihood of an all-out war in South America. The U.S.-Venezuela hostilities have been escalating as the Trump administration views Venezuela as a principal actor in the non-stop inflow of drugs, fentanyl and illegal immigrants into America. For Trump, stopping illegal fentanyl and illegal immigrants is a key policy issue, for which he is even willing to go to war with Venezuela. He has also designated Maduro’s government a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO). NDTV World’s Gaurie Dwivedi sheds light on the story with an explainer and discusses the nuances of the issue with former CIA officer Glenn Carle.
